The PMM offers a walk through all the artistic innovations and different areas and views of Picassoo; his rather personal vision of Classicism, his development in ceramics, the overlapping levels of Cubism anh his interpretation of the "Great Masters".
Most of these works are unknown or have not been presented before as they are private and personal works of art. They are works that Picasso gave to his family and inheritants and therefore they are highly estimated. Example "Jaqueline, sitting"(Paris 1954) or "The Bathers"(Mougins 1971)

Museo Picasso Málaga. The nasrid tower. |

The museum is situated in the ancient part of Malaga next to the "Alcazaba" and the ruins of the "Roman Theater". Close by is the Cathedral, built in the Renaissance style and the "Plaza De La Merced" where Picasso was born.
The museum was put up in the main building of the "Palacio De Buenavista" the former manor of Diego de Cazalla which was built in 1530 on the ruins of a Moorish palace with an observation tower, a landmark of Malaga and National Monument since 1939. In the earl 50ties this museum was converted into a Museum of Fine Arts.
The renovation and extension of the museum´s complex as we find it today was planned by the architect Richard Gluckman in cooperation with Maria Medina who was responsible for the gardens. The museum offers sufficient space for temporary exhibitions and includes a room for performances, a cafe next to the garden.
Furthermore this museum complex also encloses a library, a school, an auditorium and offices all connected by the maze of little, narrow streets and alley-ways, which makes it worth visiting.
